Brief History of Salt Lake BJ Block Durga Puja:

Establishment & Age: Salt Lake BJ Block Durga Puja is organised by BJ Block Saradotsav Committee is one of the oldest and best-known community Pujas in Salt Lake (Bidhannagar) Area. It was established in 1983, making it approximately 43 years old in 2026.

Location: BJ 415/A, Sector II, BJ Block Park, Salt Lake City, Kolkata- 700091, East Kolkata.

Themes:

• 2025 – “Firey Dekha” or “Phirey Dekha”, meaning “looking back” or revisiting the past. The pandal recreated memories of older everyday objects and experiences, including black-and-white televisions, rotary telephones, palkis, gramophones, radios, pocket transistors and audio cassettes.
• 2023 – “Adi Yogi”, based on the image and philosophy of Shiva as the primal yogi.
• 2018 – Chinese “Hulu” art (bottle-gourd art) and cultural motifs, in association with the Chinese Consulate.
