Establishment & Age: Ahiritola Jubak Brinda Sarbojanin Durgotsav began in 1971. In 2026, it is in its 56th year of celebration; according to the committee’s own website and contemporary listings. The puja is held at Ahiritola, in one of the city’s historic neighbourhoods. It has developed from a local community puja into a recognised North Kolkata theme puja while retaining its para-based character.

Themes:

• 2025 – “Roshnai” (“The Soul of Light”): The theme used light and shadow to discuss social values, women’s dignity and the illumination of imagination. It was presented as the puja’s 55th-year concept.
• 2024 – “Akarer Mahajatra” (“The Grand Journey of Form”): The puja brought back Bengal’s traditional alpana art, a folk practice considered to be declining and made it central to the pandal’s visual language.
